Home for the Holidays

"Home for the Holidays" tells how the season has been celebrated through the years, from the 1940s to the present, including songs of each decade and traditional Christmas carols.

The musical is set in a Manhattan East Side apartment with characters including the flamboyant Holly Maxwell, her 11-year-old granddaughter Krissy, her butler O'Shaughnessey, and Holly's best friend and Broadway star Muffy Merman.

Dan Goggin, creator of "Nunsense," has written an original song for the show titled "Home for the Holidays." Also included is a new song, "Do I Believe in Santa Claus" from playwright/composer/lyricist Granville Burgess of Stamford. Local Stratford playwright Mark Lambeck has contributed a zany '70s version of "A Christmas Carol" that has been incorporated in the show.

Songs include "We Need a Little Christmas," I'll Be Home for Christmas," "Winter Wonderland," "White Christmas," "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree," "Jingle Bell Rock," "Blue Christmas," "The Christmas Song," "Santa Baby," "Silver Bells," "Holly Jolly Christmas," "Toyland," "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?," "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus," "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer," "Sleigh Ride" and "Christmas in Killarney." Also, among the traditional carols are "The First Noel, "The Holly and the Ivy" and "Oh Come All Ye Faithful."

Home for the holidays"Home for the Holidays" is directed by Mark S. Graham of Trumbull, musical direction by David Harris of Bridgeport, choreography by Kathy Hellrigel of Monroe.
